The Dubai International Chamber (DIC), part of Dubai Chambers, has recently inaugurated a new international representative office in London, United Kingdom. We are proud to have been crucial in supporting this significant milestone.
Inaugurated in June 2023, the London-based office marks DIC’s first representative office in Europe and its 20th globally, embarking on the next step in its global expansion strategy. Established in 1965, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry is a public, non-profit organisation that fosters Dubai’s business ecosystem and promotes the emirate as an international business hub.
The office’s inauguration was celebrated during a special ceremony in London, attended by notable figures, including H.E. Mansoor Abdullah Khalfan Juma Abulhoul, the United Arab Emirates Ambassador to the United Kingdom, H.E. Simon Penney, His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for the Middle East and Pakistan and His Majesty’s Consul General to Dubai, and Khalid Al Shamsi, Vice President of Operations at Dubai Chambers.
Dubai Chambers Solidifying Bilateral Ties with UK
The opening of the London office represents a strategic move to enhance communication and economic cooperation between businesses and organisations in both markets. It aims to unlock promising opportunities to increase trade volumes and bilateral investments.
The United Kingdom has long been a key partner for Dubai Chambers. In 2022, the UK ranked 14th among Dubai’s trading partners. Impressively, the non-oil trade between the two nations experienced a remarkable year-on-year growth of 28.6%, reaching AED 29.7 billion. According to a Dubai Customs report, UK exports of aircraft, spacecraft, and parts to the UAE amounted to AED 6.24 billion in 2022 and could potentially increase to AED 8.45 billion.
Opportunities also exist to increase UAE exports to the UK. For example, precious metals exports, currently at only 17% of their potential, could rise from AED 286 million to AED 1.66 billion. The number of UK companies registered with the Dubai Chamber of Commerce reached 9,200 by the end of 2022, reflecting a 69% increase since 2016.
