Strengthening UAE–UK Business Relations
Established in 1965, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry is a public, non-profit organization dedicated to empowering the emirate’s economic ecosystem and promoting global business partnerships. The launch of the London office is a strategic step forward in enhancing cooperation between the UAE and the United Kingdom.
The office was inaugurated during a special ceremony attended by distinguished figures, including:
H.E. Mansoor Abdullah Khalfan Juma Abulhoul, UAE Ambassador to the UK
H.E. Simon Penney, His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for the Middle East and Pakistan
Khalid Al Shamsi, Vice President of Operations, Dubai Chambers
Expanding Trade and Investment Channels
The launch of the Dubai Chamber’s UK office aims to:
Increase bilateral trade and investment
Strengthen communication with UK public and private stakeholders
Support UK companies exploring expansion into the Dubai and UAE markets
According to Dubai Customs, the non-oil trade between the UAE and UK surged by 28.6% in 2022, reaching AED 29.7 billion. The UK ranked 14th among Dubai’s top trading partners, with key export segments including aircraft and spacecraft parts (AED 6.24 billion), with potential to increase to AED 8.45 billion.
Opportunities also exist for UAE exports to the UK. For example, precious metals, which currently account for only 17% of potential exports, could grow from AED 286 million to AED 1.66 billion.
Additionally, the number of UK companies registered with the Dubai Chamber has grown by 69% since 2016, reaching 9,200 companies as of the end of 2022.
